This is a picture of a Colocasia esculenta i took at our backyard. It grew so big that i have to cut it down and feast on its edible part, its root! We call it “gabi” in our native language and it is hig in carbohydrates. It is an ingredient in what is popularly known here in the Philippines as “nilaga”.
This plant stayed in our backyard for almost 5 months already so it grew this big. As you can see, the place where it is planted is composed of dried leaves and the like. This caused an increase in the Organic Matter content of the soil, thus favoring the growth of the gabi.
Since high Organic Matter in the soil can promote favorable growth for plants, this is likely to happen. Without any addition of inorganic or commercial fertilizers, this plant was able to grow this big. If we are to look at it, it is really possible to grow healthy plants without the addition of inorganic fertilizer.

I started using pen since I was in third grade. But it was when I entered college when I started using mg Pilot G-tech pen. At first, i used .03 but later on, i started to love using .04 instead. This is because I was so clumsy that i always dropped my pens and consequently, they don’t write anymore.
What I loved most about Pilot G-tech pens is its high quality pen writing. It does not stain and works on almost any type of paper. It does not fade easily unlike ordinary ballpoint pens and it has a sturdy casing which protects the pen tip from unwanted encounters. Its also good for people who loves to write because of its quality, you’ll surely love to make scribbles all over your paper. I’ve been using G-tech pens for 3 years now and it never fails me!

I had this Sony Ericsson T630 since i was in my 4th year high school. It was 3 years ago at least. I got it on Easter Sunday that year after i lost my Nokia 3310 a year before. It was a present from my mom after getting good grades and passing my subkects with no failing marks.
I enjoyed having it as my cellphone. Aside from having longer battery life, it has also longer talk time and can easily cope up when i have overnight text messaging sessions with my friends. It also comes with a camera, although not as advanced as the cellphones of today have. It have a good resolution in well lit conditions. It is also equipped with a bluetooth device as well as an infrared port which were considered as “advanced” way back then. It is also capable of sending MMS’s and can connect to the internet with some selected sites. It also has good colored screen image and a high quality sound. These features comes in a very affordable package so i have decided that buying my Sony Ericsson T630 was worth every centavo I spent for it!

Such phenomenon has been experienced by the world today. As explained by our elementary teachers, this phenomenon happens when too much carbon dioxide is trapped in our atmosphere and too much accumulation of green house gases can result to global warming. This is because, heat radiation from the sun cannot escape the atmosphere and is reflected back to earth’s surface.
The movie “The Inconvenient Truth” shows us how global warming affects the world today. The polar caps are melting and the sea level is constantly rising leaving low islands to sink. Typhoons has become too many over the past years and forest fire incidents have been increasing dramatically. Migratory birds are dying and many pests have started to emerge.
The problem remains unresolved as our leaders remain deaf and blind to this situation. Many environment concerned citizen groups are emerging to help control this growing phenomenon.
The simplest way we can do to help reduce global warming is to stop open burning specially plastics, rubbers and other materials that can aggravate the carbon dioxide levels of the atmosphere.

I read an article which talks about the “soft” sciences and the “hard” sciences. the article was given to us by our social science teacher as part of our reading assignment.
What differs the two sciences is basically their mode on operation. How they operate their ideas and how they measure their data. When we are ask for the length of something, we can easily measure it using a standard measuring device. But when we are asked how happy we are, do we have a happy-meter? I guess we don’t. It made me realize that, it is more difficult to quantify ideas than to quantify physical ideas. We may not be able to quantify how happy we are, but the “soft” sciences can. They do this by their special means. They can explain other phenomena and measure things that aren’t quantifiable by “standard” measurements.
Their main difference, as mentioned above is how they “operationalize” their science and how what tools they use in explaining certain phenomena.

I have been into Online Role Playing Games (RPG) since Ragnarok came into the Philippines several years ago. I have become an addict to this game (Ragnarok) and it taught me the basic concepts, rules, techniques and strategies that I was able to apply in my other RPG’s. I was only in my second year high school when I decided to play Ragnarok. It was a very much talked online RPG. I used to travel for 20mins on a jeep to get to the computer shop in our place and i would spend five to ten hours a day on the average during weekends playing Ragnarok.
After some time, I tired myself with playing Ragnarok and found a new online RPG. It was Tantra Online. This time, I was more addicted to the game. I found myself playing the game for 8hours a day! It was the time when I had no more time for school, nor to eat for i was satisfied just to sit in front of the computer and clicking the mouse and smashing the keyboards just to level-up faster. It lasted for almost a year when I had decided to finally stop because of my health. I got sick because of lack of sleep and no less food intake.
I had a “resting period” for my RPG addiction. After that time, I got into RAN online! Again I found myself hooked in this game and i would spend all my free time in front of the computer and playing my game. my addiction this time lasted only for five months.
After these three major addictions to RPG’s, i decided not to get myself hooked again on the same things. I realized now that I have wasted so much on nothing. I might have enjoyed more if the money I spent for them ware to go to other important things. But it is already a part of the past.
Right now, i still have online RPG accounts, Perfect World and RF Online are the latest, but I don’t spend too much time playing the game. I’ve learned my lesson and that, my purpose in these RPG’s now is to have something to do on my boring times.

I was alone in my dormitory room when i saw a single sick of cigarette. I didn’t paid attention to it a first because I have always been thinking that smoking is bad to my health. I was afraid because it was mt health that was at risk. But then, later on, curiosity is what really drove me to light that stick of cigar. I was so curios why a lot of people smoke. I mean, aside from its odor and the pollution it causes, what else does smoking do to the smoker?
So, I lit the stick. I didn’t know how to actually “smoke” but still I managed to have at least one puff of smoke. I applied what “I know” about smoking based on how others do it. I was teaching myself how to smoke.
It felt minty when the smoke entered my throat. The cigarette was flavored menthol. It felt cool. I felt cool. For me, it actually boosted my confidence, one way or another, that I belonged to the group because most of my dormmates, even the girls smoke (I live in a coed dormitory).
And it all happened when i was alone.
